Young at Heart is a special fellowship for those friends and family of our church who are at least 55 years old. This will be a catered Christmas luncheon, so be sure to make your reservations now. Please call the church office if you would like to join us for some laughter, fellowship, and some good home cooking.
This message was preached on Senior Appreciation Sunday and is based on Scripture found in Psalm 71:15-21. We are so thankful for the multiple contributions these faithful servants have made to the work in the kingdom of God and the ministries at First Baptist Lithonia. They have a lifetime of experiences that we can all learn from. They have lessons to share that can help shape our lives. And most importantly they have left us a legacy of solid faith that we would be wise to follow. Let us make time to listen and learn wisdom from these heroes of the faith!
This is a monthly fellowship for those 55 and older. So bring your favorite recipe or desert item, enough to share we hope. You will have a chance to share about a favorite hobby or vacation spot at our February fellowship. Most important thing is to bring a smile, yourself, and a friend! We hope to see you there.
Every year we have a special celebration to honor our senior church folks, those at least 70 years young. They have made and continue to make amazing contributions of prayer, service, encouragement, and blessing to the family of God. We conclude this day with a Banquet to show our appreciation, in our Fellowship Hall immediately after worship. Let us try to pack First Baptist with gratitude and all those special saints we call seniors.
This message was delivered on Senior Appreciation Sunday, and comes from 2 Samuel, chapters 17&19. We meet a loyal servant to the king named Barzillai. He risked his life ministering to David’s needs and instead of allowing the king to bless him in response; he instead passed the blessing on to his family. Some of king David’s last words to his son Solomon, included gratitude for Barzillai’s faithfulness. What legacy are we leaving for our families?
